Here you’ll find a collection of posts about grief, depression and anxiety – what I call the “terrible trio”. If it’s your first time here, you might like to read my intro post, The Terrible Trio of Grief (Psalm 23).

It’s quite daunting to publish such personal material online… God put it on my heart years ago to share my personal writing publicly, and up till now I’ve been too chicken! But the thing is, I have received amazing comfort from other writers’ raw openness during my own times of grief. Just knowing that someone else has been there and come out the other side can make all the difference when you’re in a dark place. So now it’s my turn to give back…

May God bring you great comfort through these posts. And perhaps some day you will be the one comforting others… (2 Cor 1:3-4)

“Why Sick Mummies Don’t Need to Feel Guilty”. Summary: Are you a mum? Do you feel guilty about your illness, fearing you’re not able to give your kids what they need? This story is about my own journey from grief to acceptance in my role as a “sick mummy”. This story is published on The Mighty website.

Writing has been so therapeutic for me over the years. I’m only starting to type out my poems now because I’m largely housebound and it’s one thing I still can do. These poems have been languishing, unread, in a dark drawer for well over a decade!

Most of my poems will be accompanied by the “story behind the poem”. Why? I want to make sure the poems provide you with hope and comfort, rather than just morbidly fixating on the less glorious moments of my life!!

Poem: “Drowning”. You know the type of crying where you’re curled up in the foetal position, and you can hardly breathe? I’ve been there, and I wrote a poem about it. I’ve also included a devotional pointing us towards Jesus, our Rock. (Image by Jean Guichard.)

More poems coming soon…
